Young Adult Intern - Summer '25
Hours: Part-time, 30 hours per week
Pay: $15/hour
Duration: June 3, 2025 – July 21, 2025

POSITION OVERVIEW
The Intern will work closely with the UMMMC staff team to support and implement ministry programs, including PRIDE Big Rapids, the Community Block Party, and the Wild Wednesday children’s ministry. This position provides hands-on experience in community engagement, leadership development, and faith-based service. The intern will gain valuable skills in event planning, outreach, and volunteer coordination while building meaningful relationships with the local community.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Assist in planning and executing PRIDE Big Rapids, the Community Block Party, and other community outreach initiatives

Provide leadership and program support for Wild Wednesday, engaging with children and families through storytelling, activities, and discussions

Coordinate and communicate with volunteers, ensuring they are supported and equipped for their roles

Participate in weekly staff meetings, providing updates on projects and contributing to strategic planning

Assist with administrative tasks, including scheduling, outreach communications, and event logistics

Engage with community partners, attending meetings and collaborating on shared initiatives

Participate in worship services and church events, fostering relationships with congregation members

Attend required program trainings and check-ins, including supervisor meetings and end-of-summer debrief
QUALIFICATIONS

Age 18-30 with a passion for serving the community

Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

Interest in ministry, social justice, community outreach, or related fields

Strong communication and organizational skills

Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team setting

Comfortable engaging with diverse groups of people in a faith-based setting

Willingness to learn, take initiative, and adapt to new challenges

Must be able to attend required training and debrief sessions

Experience working with children or in community engagement

Background in event planning, volunteer coordination, or church ministry
